Self Filling Prophecy: Man Drives Off Bridge After Texting “I Need to Quit Texting”
When will people learn to stop what they are doing to text. I’m not saying I’m not guilty of walking and texting – I try and do it less now – but I’ve never fallen off of a pier, fallen down the stairs on live TV, or almost walked into a bear while texting.
The latest and perhaps scariest story of texting and doing other things – 21 year old Chance Bothe has another chance (sorry) at life, after texting and driving, and crashing off a bridge into a ravine 35 feet below (via Digital Trends). This story is just coming to light now after happening on January 24, 2012. Moments before he crashed, Chance had texted “I need to quit texting because I could die in a car accident and then how would you feel…” WOW!
For those who live in Ontario in Canada and think that the ban on cellphones while driving is stupid, well, it’s not. When discussing the accident and people texting and driving, Bothe has said “They just need to understand don’t do it. Don’t do it. It’s not worth losing your life. I went to my grandmother’s funeral not long ago. And I kept thinking, it kept jumping into my head. I’m surprised that’s not me in that casket. I came very close to that. To being gone forever.”
