Google Train View?!
This isn’t music related, but it is cool related, which is good enough for me. I loved Google Earth when it first debuted. This led to the creepy yet awesome Google Streetview, which I couldn’t imagine life without. Recently, bicycles with Google cameras hit the bike trails of Toronto, to upload those to Google Streetview maps (rumoured to be coming in the next few months). And now, we have another cool Google Streetview feature – Google Train View (via DVICE).
Google put a camera on a flat train car in Switzerland and travelled through the mountains on the Albula Bernina railway. It’s assumed that these pictures will be available to the public. This begs the question – are they planning a worldwide (or at least European) Google Train View? Streetview for cars and Bike View for cycling trails I can see as useful, but if I’m on the train tracks, chances are I’m not driving and have no control of my destination – UNTIL I HIJACK THE TRAIN. But all that would mean is that I’m driving the one route, so scratch that. Anyway, cool stuff, Google.
