Morning Music Notes – Olympic Rejection
iTunes Festival Adds Hot Chip, Elbow, Bat for Lashes
Joining Noel Gallagher, Jack White, and Mumford & Sons for the month-long September iTunes Festival in London are Hot Chip, Elbow, and Bat for Lashes (via NME). And who says iTunes is good for nothing? The tickets can be applied for online through a system as wonderfully user friendly as iTunes itself.
Lots of People Turned Down the Closing Ceremonies
Remember me ranting about David Bowie’s Fashion being played at the Olympic Closing Ceremonies but no Bowie himself? It was just yesterday, so your memory must be worse than mine! The reason for no Bowie is because the man himself turned it down via NME.
It wasn’t just Bowie rejecting the Olympics like girls reject me – it was also The Rolling Stones, the Sex Pistols, and Kate Bush. I’m sure the reason is because they wanted to watch Blur play at Hyde Park, right? Or relax and watch the monstrosity that was the Closing Ceremonies.
Any Guesses on the Number of Olympic Tweets Sent This Summer?
Twitter was one of the stars of these Olympic games, with athletes getting kicked out for negative tweets or blaming their losses on the social media site. As for fans, how many Olympic related tweets do you think were sent? 10 million? 50 million? Higher – 150 million Olympic-related tweets were sent (via Digital Music News). That’s about 10 million per day of competition, and if you follow PeteHatesMusic on Twitter, you would’ve seen that we were responsible for about a million of them.
Listen! Azealia Banks – Succubi (Produced by AraabMUZIK)
Another new track from rapper Azealia Banks. The track, Succubi, features a great beat thrown down by AraabMUZIK, and it sounds like it should drive you crazy, but is subtly catchy. It reminds me of echoes in a cave. Yup, I hang out in caves often – trying to find Batman, of course. Check to Azealia’s latest rap offering below.
