LED Wall Art You Can Control
Does anybody remember Lite-Brite? It’s that toy kids had years ago, where you’d put translucent coloured pegs in slots to form pictures/words, and then turn the machine on to see your work light up.
Greg Friedland must have had a Lite-Brite because he has invented something similar, but much more awesome and bad-ass (via technabob.com). His Aurora LED wall is a grid of 544 LED lights that have 16 million possible colours (one for every 200 people McDonalds has served) attached to a 4’X8′ wooden board. I’m not very tech-savvy, but you hang it up, and plug it through a few different thingys, then into an iPad to control it. As you will see in the video below, you can control the images on the wall, even type words into it. Plus, the LED wall is responsive to music.
This would definitely come in handy next time you were busting out Dark Side of the Moon. Also, another awesome use would be to entertain guests at your place with it, then use it again at the end of the night and type “Get The Hell Out!” into it to let your friends know it’s time for them to leave.
