Coldplay to Play Concert in Madrid, Streamed Worldwide
Coldplay are playing a gig on October 26 in Madrid. No, the story does not end there, although it would make for an interesting post. The band will play an American Express sponsored show (I shivered when I type that), and will team up with VEVO and Youtube to stream the show, starting at 4:00pm EST. You can check it out at this Coldplay VEVO link, and you can even stream it to your mobile phone and a whole bunch of Apple-related products (the technology, NOT the fruit).
The production will be directed by Anton Corbijn, and will come 2 days after Mylo Xyloto is released (on – you guessed it – October 24). Corbijn directed the American and Control, and said he will rely heavily on the band’s input. Perhaps the graffiti theme of Mylo Xyloto will somehow work it’s way into the production.
Coldplay will also let some fans hear their new album ahead of schedule (via the Hollywood Reporter).
“Capitol Records and Coldplay are excited to participate in a proactive new music platform that will help deliver the true recognition that the new album, Mylo Xyloto deserves,” says EMI/Capitol North America Marketing and Promotion EVP Greg Thompson.
“We are thrilled Clear Channel can offer the assets, reach and creativity that will connect musicians like Coldplay more closely to their fans in an emotional, deeper experience,” Thompson continues. “This creative program will definitely impact the health of the music industry.”
In advance of the album’s release on Oct. 24, Clear Channel will air artist profiles with band members discussing the album, online content, and a custom station on iHeartRadio.
Now why don’t you give Paradise another listen.
