CMW Critical Conclusions for…The Reason (Canadian Music Week 2014 concert review)
Band number 2 on night number 1 was Hamilton act The Reason. Below are the CMW Critical Conclusions for The Reason.
Venue: Tattoo
First Impressions: Is it wrong that I didn’t want the pre-set music of Bloc Party’s Silent Alarm to end? Now that is a flawless album.
Stage Presence: Violently playing air synth looks rather funny (see: end of song 1). The band seemed happy to be on stage and had lots of banter to mix things up.
Crowd Reaction: Not out of control but respectful and loving at times (all of which describes my cat).
Random Observation: Beards are apparently mandatory to be in this 5-piece band.
The Last Word: 7.5/10 – The band commented they had some 10th anniversary shows recently. However, I discovered them 2 days ago when I decided to check out who was playing after The Dirty Nil. Music discovery is weird like that. For their first show in a while, they sounded tight. A good collection of melodic and sometimes hard rock songs.
