Followup: Block Party to Split?
Wow – the difference a day can make. Turns out the internet was wrong (gasp!) and Kele Okereke and the rest of Bloc Party WILL be going their separate ways. In the defense of PHM, even the band’s own management got this one wrong. Audio explaining everything after the jump. New Bloc Party singer? David Lee Roth.

Courtney Love to Release Tell-All Memoir:
Never one to back away from a chance for free publicity, Courtney Love announced that she was releasing her memoirs this week, just in time for me to mistake it as an article about Nirvana and read it. Damn. Anyway, the book is to be released next fall, and I’m taking Courtney in the celebrity death pool next year. Seriously – she looks pretty rough.

The Mother of Hip Hop Dies:
Sylvia Robinson, co-founder of Sugar Hill Records has died of congestive heart failure at 75.  She founded the record label that released SugarHill Gang’s Rapper’s Delight – HipHop’s first bona fide hit. She was also the first record exec to sign Grandmaster Flash – a pretty good track record.
If this is at all interesting to you, recommended reading is Can’t Stop Won’t Stop – by Jeff Chang. If this is not interesting whatsoever, I’d recommend reading The Great Gatsby – by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I’m told it’s quite good.
