My Teenage Self is Excited – New Temple of the Dog Album On the Way?!
Temple of the Dog are one of those 1990s acts that we wish could’ve gone on forever like Spice Girls. The band combined members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam, including Chris Cornell, Eddie Vedder, and Mike McCready, to name a few, and released only one album. Unless he was lying or confused, we will get another taste of the 1990s alt-rock super group, as today Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell announced on his Reddit AMA that there is a new record on the way.
Or this might not be true at all, since he was responding to multiple questions at once in the totally 1990s layout of Reddit (seriously – why does Reddit look so awful?). Question 1 was “Any chance of another Temple Of The Dog album?” while the second question was “I was at the Soundgarden show in Hyde Park last year. It was an amazing gig. When it started to hammer down with rain in the middle of Black Hole Sun the whole thing jumped up several notches vibe-wise, and stayed there for the rest of the show. Did you notice that, and what was it about the bleak weather that added so much to the performance and atmosphere?” Cornell replied YES!, making it unclear which question to was yesing (or if he was serious at all). He didn’t respond to subsequent clarification questions.
However, he did also reply with YES when asked “Will you and Eddie Vedder make some more music, please? I love both of your voices.” He also said “sure” when asked to reform Audioslave, and we’re pretty sure that ain’t happening. Okay, so maybe (read: probably) Temple of the Dog isn’t happening at all. Dare to dream!
