If Detox Finally Appears, It Might Only Be an EP
Hip hop’s version of Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy album would clearly be Dr. Dre’s Detox. This is not in terms of quality, but the fact that the albums were talked about more than a decade before they made an appearance – and Dr. Dre’s album still hasn’t made an appearance. He has been working on it – he’s pulled in guest rappers like Eminem, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, and probably even Axel Rose. A couple of years ago, Dre said he was nearly finished the album, but nothing showed up.
Since then, Dre has been working on Beats by Dre, and as Ice Cube elegantly put it, “Them headphones are selling, selling, selling. What would you rather sell somebody: $300 headphones or a $10 tape?”
50 Cent has chimed in, saying this week the album might only be five or six songs (via Guardian). That puts each song’s work rate at about 2 years per song. Can you say ‘greatest EP ever’?
Crystal Castles Delay Album Release
Crystal Castles have given us some songs from their upcoming album, III. For those who have trouble waiting one night until Christmas morning won’t be excited by this news – the album has been pushed back one week to November 12 (via Consequence of Sound). They also debuted a new song live, which has suspect audio quality, but check it out if you can’t wait until November 12.
Best Job Ever: Slapping a Guy Whenever He’s On Facebook
Sorry, unemployed youth – this isn’t a job in demand. However, one blogger from San Francisco went onto Craigslist to hire someone to slap him every time he used Facebook. Productivity enhancer or ploy to get readers to his blog, Hack the System? YOU TRICKED ME!
He claims he spent up to 6 hours a day on Facebook and Reddit, and ended up hiring a girl named Kara for the job. It’s unclear whether or not applicants (of which there were 20) needed to submit photos of their hands or perform any feats of strength. Clearly this pervert guy is a fan of Fifty Shades of Grey (um, whatever that is). Check out how his average day goes, and wonder how much Kara gets paid to go essentially nothing (via Crave).
Listen! King Krule – Octopus (Ratking Remix)
