Listen! Icona Pop – Emergency (feat. Erik Hassle)
When I first discovered Icona Pop, they were an unknown indie pair, making quirky and innovative electronic-tinged tracks such as Manners and their entire Iconic EP. I even caught them in a small pub in London 3 years ago as part of the Camden Crawl. They then EXPLODED with I Love It, gunning for that mainstream sound which I didn’t like (I’m not an indie snob – honest) and I haven’t paid much attention to them since (which is an indie snob thing to say, I know).
The duo have returned with a fresh sound with their new track Emergency. By fresh, I mean borrowing from a genre popular many decades ago – what’s old is new. The song has a frantic jazz lounge feel, with horn and piano filled parts pushing the song along, backed with some electronic beats. No word on any album news, but for the meantime, checking out the Erik Hassle-featured new track, Emergency.
