Morning Music Notes – 3 Billion Reasons to Be Happy
Some breezy summer tunes from Woods. The band dropped an album last month, but have some leftover goodies for us (like I still do from Halloween 2010).
One of the new tunes is Tambourine Light, and you can hear it below. Perfect music for laying on the ground and starring at the clouds floating by. If you don’t believe me, try it.

Who thought 20 years ago that Dr. Dre would pose with 3 old white guys at Apple headquarters to sign off a headphone and music service that he helped created? Oh, and he would do this for $3 billion. Un-fucking-believable. So yeah, Apple has made their largest acquisition ever, buying Beats headphones and their audio equipment line, plus their online music service, for $3 billion. Yowzers. Maybe Dre can lend the Offspring singer Dexter Holland some cash. He is being sued for writing gimmicky songs $750,000 or so that he owes Cessna for a plane he bought from them. “Bought” implies payment, however. (via NME)
Guess who just tied the Beatles’ record for having simultaneous number 1 and 2 songs in the US? Amazingly, it is Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea. (via Gigwise)
More chart stats – Metallica’s self-titled album (“the Black Album”) just rolled over 16 million sales in the USA. It is the first album in the Nielsen Soundscan era to do so. The other album to sell close to this is Shania Twain’s Come On Over, which sold over 15 million. (via Gigwise)
