Morning Music Notes – The 90s Are Still Among Us

Some cool beats from UK producer Oceaán. The track is called Turned Away and is off of the Oceaán EP, out March 31.

While reminding me of Pharrell’s beat for Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It’s Hot, the track goes off into a different place. Check out the song below.

Damon Albarn has been all over the map with where he thinks the future lies for Blur and Gorillaz (which essentially only a cartoon version of the man). Blur have recorded 15 songs. However, they won’t see the light of day any time soon. How frustrating is that for Blur fans? (via Pitchfork)

Jumping from one 90s Britpop legend to another, let’s talk about Noel Gallagher. He is recording his second solo album. Any hype behind it? Mark Coyle, co-producer behind Definitely, Maybe has said “Noel’s new album is fucking great. It reminds me in some respects of the spirit of ‘Definitely Maybe’, because it’s so obviously exciting. That boy is from a different planet, and even the fans won’t believe how utterly amazing it is.” Let the sensationalism begin! (via NME)

More 90s band talk! Soundgarden will play SXSW in Austin next month. They will also play classic album, Superunknown, from top to bottom. I was hoping for a cover of some Weird Al albums instead. (via NME)
