Morning Music Notes – Yelling With Excitement for ALL CAPS

Kanye West to Tour New Album Yeezus

If you wanted more Kanye West than just projections on buildings, you’re in luck. Although he didn’t tour his last epic album in 2010, he did do a monster tour with Jay-Z for their Watch the Throne album. Yesterday during an AMA session on Reddit with producer Mike Dean, Dean said he will be a member of a touring band and yes, Kanye West will be touring Yeezus. How will the minimalist, industrial, non-club hitting tracks play out live? Terribly – save your money, and let me grab some tickets and check it out instead.

Jay-Z’s 1 Million Samsung App Albums Won’t Count Towards the Charts

Jay-Z has been an absolute menace on the charts. He has the record for most number one albums (12!!) by a solo artist on the Billboard 200. His new album, Magna Carta Holy Grail (whatever the fuck that is), will be given away to the first million people who get a new app on the Samsung Galaxy. Samsung bought all of these for $5, but these 1 million albums will not count towards the charts (via MTV). Billboard doesn’t count bulk sales.

Jay-Z tweeted a response, noting “If 1 million records gets SOLD and Billboard doesn’t report it, did it happen? Ha. #newrules #magnacartaholygrail Platinum!!!” New rules indeed.

You can camp out on the Island, and it’s reasonably priced, too. Camping passes are $52 and are limited, and go on sale June 25. Early bird ticket prices are $24, but rise to $30 on July 9. Still a steal. Check the website for more details.

Watch! The Postal Service – A Tattered Line of String

The Postal Service are touring their album, Give Up, which turned 10 this year. Surely anything they make will pale in comparison to the spoof audition video they made. This is confirmed when the video starts off by doing my least favourite task – showering laundry. Actually, the whole thing is in some sort of hell of a laundromat. Check out the adventures below in the video for A Tattered Line of String.
