September 22 is the date Facebook is expected to finally discuss their developing music strategy. Nobody is really able to explain anything at this point, but it is expected to deeply integrate music services from partners including Spotify, MOG, Rhapsody, Slacker and Rdio

Coen Brothers Take On 60’s Folk Scene
Joel & Ethan Coen are working on a movie about the folk music scene in New York City in the ’60s; Bob Dylan, Woody Guthrie, and all that. Aparently, the movie will be loosely based on the life of Dave Van Ronk – who is apparently a bona-fide folk legend. The Coen Brothers rarely dissapoint, so this should be interesting.

New James Blake EP in October
Unsatisfied with releasing some of the coolest soul music in recent memory this year, James Blake will return with an EP in October. It will apparently include work with Bon Iver, which is included after the jump. If you’re unfamiliar with James Blake (for shame!) here’s a gorgeous Feist cover released in 2010.

Inspiral Carpets to Reunite
This headline doesn’t need too much explanation. Perhaps more interesting is that they apparently chose their original singer, Stephen Holt, over some guy named Noel Gallagher. If you’re like me, you’re probably asking yourself, why do I know Inspiral Carpets? It’s likely because of this song – their biggest hit – released 3 years after Stephen Holt left the band.

Pearl Jam’s 20th anniversary tour has begun, and the band is releasing nuggets of exclusive content on their website for the duration. One thing Pearl Jam gets better than any band I’ve ever seen: their exclusive stuff for fans is arguably much cooler than their official releases.
