How Did Spotify Do in Year 1 in the USA? Infographic time!

July 14, 2011 was the day Spotify landed in Canada the USA. In the past year, they racked up 3 million users, with about 20% of them as the all-important paying user (via Hypebot). In one year, a massive 13 billion songs have been streamed in the States. 27 million have been shared, with 55.3% of those shares coming via the new partnership with Facebook. 41.5% were shared within Spotify, showing you the power of Facebook. Only 2.7% were shared through Twitter, with 0.3% through the mysterious “other” services.

As Hypebot points out, apparently Spotify pays out $0.0051 (half a cent!) for free streamed accounts in the United States, $0.0078 per unlimited stream, and $0.0153 per premium stream. These stats are based on payouts in 2011. This is obviously a lot less than payouts for Google Play or iTunes, but they aren’t directly competing services. Why talk about it when I can show you a fancy Spotify infographic? Actually, I ruined all the best parts, but still check it out below.
