Watch! Rodrigo y Gabriela featuring C.U.B.A. – 11:11
Rodrigo y Gabriela are Mexican acoustic guitarists, who busked on the streets of Dublin, as well as playing local gigs, and landed themselves a record deal. Their debut album actually hit #1 in Ireland, beating out the Arctic Monkeys and Johnny Cash – wonder what the bookies would’ve paid on that bet. The band’s latest album is Area 52, and features some Cuban orchestra musicians (the appropriately named C.U.B.A.) joining the duo on a re-working of some of their past tracks.
One of the tracks that gets updated is the title track off of their previous album, 11:11. As the video plays, a portrait of Rodrigo and Gabriela is drawn by Barry Jazz Finnegan. Give the instrument song a listen, and perhaps do some of your own painting while waiting the video. Or do what I did – try to figure out a way to get that homeless man off of your couch.
