Double Dose of Kanye West – G.O.O.D. Music Announces New Single, Plus Listen to a New Song With DJ Khaled

Kanye West might have taken a break from touring with Jay-Z to explore his fashion designing side, but now he’s back in the music scene. Tomorrow, fittingly on Good Friday, Kayne West’s G.O.O.D. Music label will release a new track called Mercy (via Billboard). There is a G.O.O.D. Music group album coming out, and it is assumed (by smart people like me) that this track will be on there. Mercy will feature appearances by Kanye West, Pusha T, Big Sean, and 2 Chainz.

The second piece of good news for Kanye fans – a new track was played on US radio station Hot 97 yesterday (via NME). The song, Theraflu, has Kanye collaborating once again with DJ Khaled. The pair are supposedly working on a new DJ Khaled album, due out later this year. It’s unclear if this song is from this album, but the betting man in me says “Bet the house on it”. Google’s Project Glass Leads to Glasses Looking Even Dorkier

Google’s futuristic Project Glass has been discussed for a couple of months based on early rumours, but yesterday people got to see it in action for the first time. Like something out of my dreams a sci-fi movie, Project Glass is a pair of glasses that you wear that acts sort of like a computer monitor, allowing you to see maps, read texts, take photos – literally in front of your eyes. As said by the Google nerds themselves:

“A group of us from Google[x] started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We’re sharing this information now because we want to start a conversation and learn from your valuable input. So we took a few design photos to show what this technology could look like and created a video to demonstrate what it might enable you to do.”

More Proof the Future is Here Now: Royal Canadian Mint Wants MintChip Payments

Glad to see Canada is making some forward strides in the world of cold, hard cash (and now eCash). First, we got rid of the penny, meaning my piggy bank will become VERY empty over the next little while. Now, the Royal Canadian Mint are asking developers to make them a digital payment app using MintChip, which is their Research and Development technology (via iPhone in Canada). OF course, you won’t be doing this for free – if you win, you will get $50,000 in now extinct pennies. Runners up will merely get their good ideas ripped off and amalgamated with the winner’s ideas for free.

So what is MintChip? From the Mint itself: “MintChip brings all the benefits of cash into the digital age. Kurt Cobain Died 18 Years Ago Today

Kurt Cobain being dead isn’t exactly news. However, he died a whopping 18 years ago (seems just like yesterday, sort of). Nirvana and Cobain are still talked about as legendary acts, with many people my generation remembering where they were when they heard the news – a JFK moment for the alt-rock kiddies. Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl has continued to have success with the Foo Fighters, a band he claims he is more proud of than Nirvana; although their initial success is directly related to Grohl being in Nirvana.

All that aside, let’s check out a video that to me shows how Nirvana could’ve progressed had Kurt not died; moving from grunge rock to – dare I say it – softer, more melodic songs on future albums. The MTV Unplugged album by Nirvana is probably in my Top 10 albums of all-time, and it shows off Kurt’s hidden talent – his fucking amazing voice, that is almost always overshadowed by the guitar work and distortion in the band.
