Morning Music Notes – Rid Yourself of Nickelback (online at least)

Sesame Street Composer Arrested in Child Porn Bust

Fernando Rivas was good at telling children how to get to Sesame Street, and also at allegedly producing, distributing, and possessing child pornography pictures of other children (via Spinner). Fernando Rivas was a children’s music composer, who won a Grammy in 1998 for Elmopalooza, and also wrote music for Disney’s Handy Manny. He has been charged with “coercing a child to “engage in sexually explicit conduct,” production of child pornography, transportation of child pornography and possession of child pornography.”

“The charges stem from an April 19 arrest, when FBI agents stormed Rivas’ home, discovering photographs of a 4-year-old girl naked and “restrained in handcuffs and other bondage type devices,” according Charleston’s Post and Courier. Rivas reportedly admitted to handcuffing the child, taking the photos, and sending them to two others by email.”

What I’m learning in life is to TRUST NO ONE.

Speaking of Trust No One: GZA to Lecture at Harvard

GZA, from the Wu Tang Clan, is giving a guest lecture at Harvard University next month (via NME). The lecture will not focus on rocket science, but rather something he is familiar with – Angry Birds his career with the Wu Tang Clan, and discussions about his lyrics and how they come about.

“He will also reportedly visit other esteemed US academic institutions such as MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and the Broad Institute in Boston to seek inspiration for his new solo album, which is due for release in 2012.”

I can’t wait for the next album, with lyrics about Pi, nuclear physics, and the disadvantages of a World Bank.

Hate Nickelback? Get Nickelblock!

The band everyone loves to hate (especially Detroit Lions fans) – Nickelback, are back with a new album. Before you smash your computer since you’re so sick of hearing about them, check out the Chrome and Firefox add-ons called Nickelblock (via Digital Music News). This add-on basically blocks out information about Nickelback from reaching you. I’ve successfully done that in real life in relation to manners, and having a meal with me is a blast because of it.

Developed by Aux.tv, “You’ll never read about Nickelback again,” the company promises. You basically have a bar cover the word Nickelback wherever a reference would be, such as in YouTube or a Google search. Of course, if you’re having trouble reading this post, then I’m already a fan of yours.
