Morning Music Notes – You’ll Only Be at the Hall of Fame as a Guest
The UK rockers The Vaccines said yesterday that you shouldn’t expect an album from the anytime soon. In lieu of an album, they’ve given us a new, Noisey-made video for a phrase that I’ve never said before: I Wish I Was a Girl.
The video description says the song “takes on new meaning of personal aspirations and not conforming to type, when it’s placed into a post Arab Spring setting.” Who am I to argue? Check out the track from last year’s Come of Age album.

The 2014 edition of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will see the likes of Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, Hall & Oates, Cat Stevens, and Linda Ronstadt all make it through the ‘rigorous’ voting system and into the Hall of Fame. Let’s all agree on one thing – keep Courtney Love the hell away from the stage. The ceremony will take place on April 10, 2014. (via Gigwise)
Beyonce’s “SURPRISE!” album has been her most successful to date in terms of sales. And let’s be honest, that’s what it’s all about. Since only Friday after, Beyonce has set an iTunes record with 617,000 downloads so far in the US iTunes store. She has 828,000+ worldwide downloads, making her album the fastest selling album in the history of the iTunes store. She’s number 1 in 104 countries, which sounds made up because I thought the Earth only had like 50 countries. (via MTV)
Interestingly enough, Target won’t carry her album since she released it digitally first. I say screw you, Target – pretty sure she’s doing okay without you. (via Pitchfork)
Coldplay had a surprise of their own. It wasn’t a new album, or jumping out of my friend’s birthday cake, but it was playing a surprise show at a Somerset pub in England. The band played the Ring O’ Bells pub and played 10 songs in the intimate pub environment. Those were the days, boys. (via NME)
