Morning Music Notes – Twerk Your Way Into the Record Books
Yesterday, we featured a new God is an Astronaut video (which in truth, was a few weeks old). Today, we feature a brand, spanking new video by rock instrumentalists, God is an Astronaut.
The video for Reverse World has an apocalyptic feel to it (it’s apparently filmed in Finland, so take that, Finland), while the music is layered and slow building, before exploding halfway through the song. And there’s some vocal samples, too – rare for the Irish band. Give it a listen below, and watch out for Origins, out September 16/17.

Morning Music Notes
Remember that mysterious Reflektor campaign that I saw at Osheaga and others saw at Lollapalooza? The rumours were true – Arcade Fire are behind it. Something is also happening September 9 at 9 pm. I won’t know until September 10, since 9 pm is past my bedtime (via Pitchfork)
Kevin Spacey has praise for Netflix, noting “we have learned the lesson that the music industry didn’t.” Does he have a point? (via The Verge)
Can’t get enough of twerking? Do you like Diplo? He wants to set the twerking world record (which is apparently less than 50 asses shaking at once), and you can help out. Check out his Instagram video for more info.
Speaking of twerking, just how talked about was the Miley Cyrus slutathon at the MTV VMAs? When she teamed with Robin Thicke to do her We Can’t Stop and Blurred Lines medley, there were 306,100 related tweets per minute. This is way more than last year’s peak of 98,307 tweets per minute. By comparison, the Presidential election had 327,452 tweets per minute (via Billboard)
