Morning Music Notes – Ain’t Nothing But Mammals, Banned from Russia
Osheaga was Friday through Sunday, and you can check out our reviews here. I’m exhausted and missed a whack of news since Monday was a holiday in Ontario but not in America, and apparently music stuff still happened. Check out some highlights below.
MGMT dropped another new song off of their upcoming self-titled album. Following up Alien Days is new track Your Life is a Lie, which is people in the Witness Protection Program dread hearing. The track is not a spacey psychedelic song, but it is a fuzzy rocker. Check it out below.

Morning Music Notes
Love him or hate him, if you were at Drake’s OVO Fest last night in Toronto, you were in for a once in a lifetime show. He’s been known to pull out guests in the past, but this was ridiculous. We had guest appearances by Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, Diddy, Ma$e, Miguel (who bailed as a replacement at Osheaga this weekend), The Weeknd, TLC (?!?!), J Cole, Lil Wayne, and more! Check out Exclaim’s review.
As I witnessed before Beck’s headlining set at Osheaga and Saturday, and as friends of PeteHatesMusic witnessed at Lollapalooza, there was a mysterious video that ran with a guy writing “Reflektor” on a chalk board, with some gentle music playing. The early rumours are it is the new Arcade Fire album title. Grafetti has begun popping up in cities with the same artwork. Interesting indeed (via Stereogum)
Did you see Nine Inch Nails at Lollapalooza? Whether you did or not, you can watch the whole, apparently epic set on YouTube in its entirety.
The Bloodhound Gang somehow came up in a conversation at Osheaga on the weekend. And now I find out they are banned from Russia due to some flag stunt. Don’t stick a Russian flag down your pants (via Billboard)
Gem Archer, formerly of Oasis and now in Beady Eye, has been hospitalized with severe head trauma. Beady Eye’s V Fest set might be in jeopardy (via NME)
