Warner Music Acquires Parlophone from Universal Music

Time to pack your bags, Parlophone artists – you’re moving to Warner Music. Since Universal acquired EMI in September, it was required to sell off some of its assets (via Gigwise). The deal set Warner back almost half a billion pounds / $765 million Cdn.

The Parlophone roster includes bands such as Radiohead (formerly), Coldplay, Daft Punk (who might’ve signed with Columbia), Pink Floyd, Danger Mouse, and David Guetta, to name a few. Universal kept the recently acquired EMI, which includes The Beatles and, um, need I say more?

Lana Del Rey Sort of Confirms Great Gatsby Soundtrack Work

Lana Del Rey, when not modelling for Jaguar or H&M, has a music career. She’s long been rumoured to be working on the Great Gatsby movie soundtrack, and this has all but been confirmed by her uploading the film’s logo to her Facebook page (and appears it has been removed) and her randomly tweeting the word GATSBY. No word if she is contributing a song, or working more extensively on the film’s soundtrack, or what other random words she will tweet.

$200 to Quit Facebook? Of Course! There’s Always Myspace…

A Dad has given his daughter $200 to quit Facebook…for 5 months (via Crave). This is what Dad of the Year, Paul Baier, did to his 14 year old daughter, Rachel, who won’t see that much money at one time until she’s working at strip clubs in college.

What is Rachel going to do without Facebook? I’m sure the 6 hours a day could be quite handy. The idea was actually hers, as she was growing tired of Facebook. She doesn’t have that many ex-boyfriends to stalk just yet – it’ll happen. She is missing out on following PHM on Facebook though (which you should all do).

Watch! The Flaming Lips – Bohemian Rhapsody (Somewhat NSFW)

The Flaming Lips just said they have recorded a bunch of covers of the Stone Roses. This is after they already recorded a cover album of Dark Side of the Moon. Now, they have covered the Queen classic, Bohemian Rhapsody.

The band have a mainky studio shot video, but have some random shots of a chick sunbathing by the pool, and not wearing any bottoms (hence the NSFW warning), and she has some bizarre suntan lotion, which doubles as an equally bizarre snack. I did that when I was two. Check it out below.
