Meet Daisy, the New Music Streaming Service from Trent Reznor and Dr. Dre
A little while ago, Nine Inch Nails’ front man Trent Reznor said he was working on stuff with Beats by Dre and also another interesting project with Dr. Dre. That project is not music related but music streaming related. In an interview with the New Yorker, Reznor’s new project is Daisy, in collaboration with Beats By Dre (via Consequence of Sound).
Do we need another music streaming service? Like all good businessmen, Reznor thinks so. He says Daisy is a “platform in which the machine and the human would collide more intimately.” Daisy uses “uses mathematics to offer suggestions to the listener… [but also] would present choices based partly on suggestions made by connoisseurs.” Daisy is “like having your own guy when you go into the record store, who knows what you like but can also point you down some paths you wouldn’t necessarily have encountered.”
What’s a record store, Daddy? The service should be out next year. No word on the pricing or functionality of Daisy.
In other news, there will be a Best of Nine Inch Nails album in 2014, featuring 2 new songs. Sweet.
