Morning Music Notes – Some Stuff Happened
God is an Astronaut will release a new album called Origins. The instrumental rock band have a driving and layered track off of this album called Spiral Code.
For fans of the band, the feel of the song is nothing new, as the track races to the finish, adding a multitude of layers and hard rock parts throughout. Give it a listen and grab the disc on September 16/17.

Morning Music Notes
A lot of stuff happened this weekend – Riot Fest in Toronto, Reading/Leeds in, um, Reading and Leeds (in the UK), the MTV VMAs, and all the hype and controversy associated with these events.
Eminem announced a new album via a Beats by Dre commercial during the MTV VMAs. The album is called MMLP2, is out November 5, and was produced by Rick Rubin and Dr. Dre. Check out the short preview below.

Eminem also headlined the twin Reading and Leeds festivals, with accusations that he was lip syncing during his performance. The Reading & Leeds boss, Melvin Benn, said these claims are ridiculous. Also, Dido showed up to sing Stan with him (via NME)
Melvin Benn was also in the news because of a row with Nine Inch Nails. Before their weekend festival slot, Trent Renzor tweeted :
Should be an unusual show tonight at Reading…

…the lying promoter and the band following us (whoever the fuck they are) fucked us on our production.

Ouch to headliners Biffy Clyro. Enter Melvin Benn, who responded “The truth is there’s no truth in the statement. The contract hasn’t changed since they signed up to it.” Rock music wars! (via NME)
MTV VMAs recap: N Sync reunited, Miley Cyrus was slutty, Taylor Swift got lots of air time and swore when One Direction were on stage, and Kanye West performed in low lighting (where I look best). Check out his Blood on the Leaves performance below, which was done in front of a back drop of a lynching tree (as shown on his website).

Daft Punk previewed their next video, also with Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers. The track is Lose Yourself to Dance.
