Juno Awards Announce 2013 Nominees

The American Juno awards (aka The Grammys) might have just passed, but now the real excitement begins (right?). This morning, the Juno Awards announced the nominees for the April 21st showcase in Regina, Saskatchewan. The Junos are the highest awards for the music biz in Canada.

Ms. Call Me Maybe – Carly Rae Jepsen – leads the way with five Juno nominations. Justin Bieber, shut out of Grammy nominations, got some Canuck love with some Juno nominations. Maybe Patrick Carney will stop making fun of him now. Other acts with multiple nominations include Metric, Drake, Leonard Cohen, Vegas performer Céline Dion, Hedley, and Marianas Trench.

Now how is this for a diverse category – artist of the year nominees include Leonard Cohen, Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Johnny Reid, and Deadmau5. You’ll need to get three generations of your family around the table to know all five artists.

Check out the full list of nominees over on the Junos website, and feel free to bitch in the comments section or on Twitter @PeteHatesMusic. Let me start – no love for Godspeed You! Black Emperor? For shame!
