Morning Music Notes – Cashing in on Reality
Ke$ha to Get Reality Show on MTV (Based on Documented Footage)
Ke$ha is set to get a reality show of sorts on MTV. Yippy? It has nothing to do with hoarding or getting pregnant (at least I don’t think), but instead will focus on footage that has been shot over the past two years (via Gigwise). So not really a reality show, but still heavy on the editing.
In a discussion with MTV, the one-time Flaming Lips collaborator said “You might have heard my voice on the radio, seen me onstage or in a music video, but that’s only a part of the story. With this documentary series I’m revealing a more complete picture of what my life is really like. It’s not all glamorous but it’s all real.”

A New Festival for Wine Snobs
Napa Valley, home to many great wines, will now be home to the Bottle Rock Music & Arts Festival on May 10-12 (via Consequence of Sound). The line up is not bad for a new festival – The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, The Flaming Lips, The Shins, Rodrigo y Gabriella, with the full line up coming in February, promising free wine for all over 40 great bands. I’ll be the judge of what’s great, thank you very much.
But what’s a festival in Napa Valley without the wine? Of course there will be wine – to the tune of 300 wineries. Not sure if the bands are ‘wine bands’. Shouldn’t one of vineyard owner Maynard James Keenan’s many bands be playing the festival? Check out additional details on their website.
Noel Gallagher Has Tinnitus
First Chris Martin, then Grimes, and now Noel Gallagher. All of them have written me love letters revealed they have the inner ear condition tinnitus (via NME).
Noel Gallagher was speaking to Talksport DJ Andy Goldstein about the problem and said, “I went for a brain scan. They did find it. I’ve got bizarre ringing in my ears. I think it’s just through playing guitar for the last 20 years so I had to sit in a tube in the hospital. It’s an accumulation of many things but I’ve had a bloody great time doing it all and if I do eventually die of brain disease it will have been worth it.”
Interesting rock star philosophy, Noel.
Watch! Pacific Air – Float
A nice dreamy indie song that evokes images of summer happiness. The instrumentation, the chorus, and heck, even the video scream summer. The track is called Float by a band called Pacific Air. Their Long Live Koko EP is out now.
