Morning Music Notes – will.i.am Admits He Can’t Sing, But We Demand More Admissions of Lack of Talent

Elton John Hospitalized With Respiratory Infection

Elton John – er, SIR Elton John – has been hospitalized in Los Angeles. I wish I could say it was from a crazy night of partying and drugs, but it’s a “serious respiratory infection” (via MTV). 3 of his shows have been cancelled and doctors advised him not to perform for a week. The problem is he always sings in the shower, so no showers for a week (which is pretty much my shower schedule). He is expected to make a full recovery and will resume singing those classic Lion King songs again shortly.

Facebook Buys Instagram for $1 Billion, Still Rolls Out Their Own iPhone Camera App

Facebook (well, Instagram), you have some competition – Facebook. The app is called Facebook Camera and lets you share and view photos from your Facebook friends. You can add filters and other such edits. You can also simply scroll through all of your friends’ photos, without seeing their status updates. Without their interesting Facebook status updated, how will I know what their kids are doing?! The app also taks advantage of the stylish new Facebook app update, which pushes the pictures to the edges of your phone, making them as large and clear as possible. Note: depending on the picture subject, this is not always a good thing. Sadly, I’m talking about myself.

Will.i.am Admits He Can’t Sing, But I Want More Admissions of His Uselessness

Recent Olympic torch tweeter, will.i.am. from the Black Eyed Peas, has admitted he doesn’t have a great singing voice, and is reliant on Autotune to help his recordings and performances (via Gigwise).

Will.i.am. told comedian Alan Carr on his Chattyman show, “I’m working on my singing abilities. I like staying in the studio. The computer allows me to make music, sing it myself, and not wait around for a singer to come along and sing the songs. The computer allows me to execute a lot of my ideas at the speed that I think them so that’s why I lean to the autotune.”

Like A Beer Company’s Facebook Page, Win Free Tickets to Parklife Weekender Festival – Sounds Easy Enough

I hate when band’s make me Like their Facebook page in order to hear their songs. That’s like making a girl kiss you before you’ve had the date – she just won’t do it. That being said, I will Like a Facebook page if there is a great prize (with great odds) available to me. Enter Desperados beer, a beer that I really like, as it’s infused with tequila (note: this is not an advertisement, although I will willing accept free beers or concert tickets). Hell, I like pretty much ALL beer. If you like the Desperados Facebook page, you have a chance of winning free tickets to Parklife Weekender. The Manchester festival features The Flaming Lips, Noah and The Whale, Justice, Crystal Castles, The Rapture, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Django Django, and more.

Cue segue to a new song from Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs for American Dream Part II.
