Listen to the New Offspring Song, Which Has A Riff That Sounds A LOT Like the Foo Fighters
Whenever I hear the Offspring, I think of Grade 9. Smash was the soundtrack to that year. The Offspring were somewhat popular before that, but this pushed them mainstream. The singles on albums after that screamed “sell out”, and then the band eventually faded away after a few too many gimmicky songs. However, the Offspring are back, hoping to gain fans of their former fans’ “offspring” (see what I did there?).
Now, the song isn’t anything to blog (or write home) about. However, giving the song a listen, I did notice the riff sounds an awful lot like the Foo Fighters’ Times Like These. Click ahead to the 15 second mark of new Offspring song, Days Go By (and actually, the 15 second mark of Times Like These). Notice it? Well, both songs are below, so listen for yourself. Yes, it’s not identical, and I know there are only so many songs an instrument can make, but that’s was the first thing I thought of when I heard the new song.
The Offspring – Days Go By
Foo Fighters – Times Like These
Yeah too funny… Came home after hearing the new Offspring song … Asked the wife what she thought and she said it sounds like the Foo Fighters “Times like these”! I heard the same thing as well. Doesn’t bother me because I don’t listen to the Offspring but my wife does. I bet it wasn’t intended but maybe subliminal…
Either way the Foo is a better band….
