Morning Music Notes – Radiohead Announce UK Tour Dates; PHM Giddy with Excitement
Radiohead Add UK Tour Dates, Debut Another New Song
Good news for UK Radiohead fans, which includes yours truly – we have a few tour dates! The band are touring their February 2011 album, The King of Limbs, and will be stopping by Manchester at the Manchester Evening News Arena on October 6, as well as the O2 Arena in London on October 8 and 9. Tickets will go on sale this Friday at 9am GMT, but please wait until I have secured my tickets first.
In other good news for Radiohead fans, the stalker from PeteHatesMusic has been arrested a song that Thom Yorke debuted with his Atoms of Peace outfit has now been played by Radiohead as a full band. The song was played last night in Dallas, and is called Skirting on the Surface. Since you might not have been in Dallas last night, you can listen to it below.

Michael Jackson Song Thieves Are Caught
How is that for a quick turnaround time in new stories? Yesterday, it was discovered that the Sony hackers stole 50,000 songs, including unreleased Michael Jackson songs. Today, it is announced that 2 men have been charged (via NME). These men were actually charged on Friday March 2, so they must have access to a time machine, too. Actually, the news just didn’t make it out of the police station until now, as the men, James Mark and James McCormick, were arrested last May, and will not face trial until January 2013. They denied the charges, and blame their cats for stepping on their keyboards and accidentally performing the hacking (the last parts of this sentence might not be true).
I Only Have Eyes for You to Get Covered By Beck, James Murphy, and others for Video Projection Project
The classic song I Only Have Eyes for You is going to be the soundtrack to artist Doug Aitken’s video installation project. However, it will be covers of the song, and the covers will be done by Beck, James Murphy from LCD Soundsystem, Natalie Portman’s lucky (and now unlucky) ex-bf Devendra Banhart, No Age, and more (via Pitchfork). The project will place 360 degree video projections onto the cylindrical Hirshborn Museum in Washington, DC. The cover song project will provide the soundtrack. The project, called Song 1, runs from March 22 to May 13, and will cover the 82-foot high building from sundown until midnight.
Check out Behind the Scenes footage for the DoYaThing video
You’ve hopefully seen the video for the Gorillaz/James Murphy/Andre 3000 song, DoYaThing. Fans of Gorillaz will have loved the 3D renderings of the Gorillaz band characters. You can watch a Making Of style video, with discussions with Gorillaz co-founder/animator, Jamie Hewlett. Lots of work goes into videos – who knew?? Nice to see they used my house at the backdrop for the video, though.
