Morning Music Notes – Weekend Edition
It’s Post #101 (I really should’ve celebrated that last post – always effing late to the party!). It’s sunny outside, which is where I would rather be, so you get a short ‘weekend edition’ of Morning Music Notes.
Ticket Prices on the Rise, No One is Surprised
Ticket prices for concerts in North America rose by 10% last year, according to Digital Music News. Attendance was up 5% from the previous year. The average ticket price for the top 100 largest tours costs $67, which is on par with the price of one beer at some of the venues. This makes my $10 Gang Gang Dance ticket tomorrow seem all that much sweet. Time to drink $57 worth of beer, so I can average things out. I’m nice like that.
Air Picks for Air Guitars = REAL Noise
Technabob has some cool pics of an Air Pick to be used as an Air Guitar, but it actually makes noise.
“If you like the more natural air guitar playing, but you still want to actually hear real music too, the Air Pick might be just the ticket. This fat plastic guitar pick is many times thicker than a real pick, but shaped the same way. When you strum your air guitar holding the Air Pick, each stroke you make results in a note being played from a real song. There are three different Air Picks and they have tunes from bands like the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and others.”
The Air Picks are available in the UK this summer, but no word on whether Canadians or other countries will be able to join in the fun.
New Remix of Beastie Boys – Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win
Standout track from the latest Beastie Boys album is Don’t Play No Game That I Can’t Win, featuring Santigold. Major Lazer (which are producers Diplo, who is those annoying cell phone commercials, and Switch) have remixed the song, and filled it with an array of sounds. Give it a listen for yourself.
