Morning Music Notes – Mercury Rising

Those unorthodox and highly creative sounds from SOHN are back in another new track. After featuring the tracks Bloodflows and The Wheel, as well as the SOHN-produced Banks track Waiting Game, SOHN have a new track called Lessons (of which I need typing ones).

Sohn - Lessons
The track starts off slow, before adding a Pink Floyd On The Run-esque beat. SOHN also announced a tour and will be hitting Toronto on November 23 at the Drake.

After yesterday’s Mercury Prize announcement for best British and Irish album, the bookies have instilled Arctic Monkeys and some David Bowie kid as favourites (via Telegraph)

Arctic Monkeys also look to be on pace to take over Daft Punk for the fastest selling album in the UK for 2013. Assuming they land at number 1, they will be the first band in the UK to start their career with five straight number 1 releases – they are currently tied with Keane (3 LPs, 1 EP) for the honour (via NME)

Arcade Fire’s Win Butler spills the goods on the new Reflektor album. The band were inspired by trips to Haiti and Jamaica, and also wrote about 50-60 songs, before parring them down and bringing in LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy to produce (via Rolling Stone)

Robbie Williams is still trying to grab every last dollar and pound he can, and has recorded a jazz cover album. He’s roped in some big names though, including Michael Buble, Lily Allen, Rufus Wainwright, Kelly Clarkson, and Olly Murs. See you in the bargain bins soon, Robbie (via NME)
