PeteHatesMusic Makes Shortlist for Best Pop Culture and Entertainment Blog in the 2012 Ninjamatics Canadian Weblog Awards

There don’t seem to be any official Canadian Blog Awards. If you Google this phrase, you will land on two respectable websites that have been hosting them for the past several years. As you might know, we won the 2012 Best Music Blog in the Canadian Blog Awards. Fame and fortune still allude us, but stray cats and hobos don’t run away from me as often.

The other competition site is the Ninjamatics Canadian Weblog Awards. The difference for this competition is that it is jury-based, meaning I don’t have to harass the heck out of you for your vote. As noted on the website, “The Canadian Weblog Awards are about quality not popularity, so there is no public vote. Each weblog is instead judged by a volunteer jury against a set of criteria.” Since I don’t know what the word criteria means, I figured we were in trouble.

Recently, PeteHatesMusic made the long list (along with over 40 other blogs) in the Pop Culture and Entertainment category, as there’s no strictly Music category. I’m excited (and honestly surprised – have they seen this site?!) to say that PeteHatesMusic has now made the shortlist of 5 blogs! These 5 blogs will then be re-evaluated and the top 3 of each category will be announced on January 31. Since you can’t vote for us, I expect you to attempt to locate and bribe the jurors. We fully expect our readers to go to jail for us – it’s in the ‘legal’ section of this website. Barring that, you can cross your fingers for us.
