London’s Underage Festival is Cancelled, Blames the Olympics

A pretty cool idea in the music world is to have a music festival for people who are under 19. This is just what London’s Underage Festival does keeping all the twerps away from me. Because of the London 2012 Summer Olympics, the festival got a) moved from July to August and b) moved from Victoria Park to Shoreditch Park. Organizers have now stated that the new site couldn’t provide them exactly what they wanted (via Gigwise).

A statement reads: “Despite a positive start to the site move from Victoria Park and repeated assurances that production levels would be suitable for a festival of this kind, we now find ourselves in a situation where we have no choice but to cancel the event. Unforeseen circumstances with our site hire contract mean we are no longer able to meet production levels and we do not want to risk the safety and smooth running of an event for 13-18 year olds.” Due to play were Fixers, Citizens!, Dry the River, Dog is Dead, and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, amongst others.
