Whitney Houston Dead at the Age of 48

Singer Whitney Houston has died at the age of 48 (via Associated Press). No cause of death has been revealed, but idiot bloggers like myself will jump to the obvious drug abuse history and draw our own conclusions. Perhaps file this news under the Amy Winehouse degree of shock.

Whitney Houston was once a force on the music scene, selling over 200 million albums, which is pretty ridiculous. Whitney won Emmys, Grammys, and also starred in the Bodyguard, for which she provided the hit song, I Will Always Love You. Houston’s tailspin into a life of drugs began, and she admitted to using cocaine, pot, which led to her declining vocal skills.

I wonder if Grammy producers will have time to slot in a tribute for Sunday night’s show? I also wonder whether or not anyone will back out of attending. Either way, a music giant has fallen.

I was a huge fan and not ashamed of it. Her songs have gotten me through some rough times. Her music was felt all around the world. Remember when that young Taiwanese boy sang “I will always love you”?
