Morning Music Notes – Davy Jones’ Locker
The Monkees’ Singer Davy Jones Has Died
In case you didn’t hear last night, The Monkees’ singer Davy Jones died of a heart attack at the age of 66. Davy Jones was born in Manchester, and even started his career on Coronation Street (who DIDN’T?) before starring in the television show about the band he was in, The Monkees. Perhaps the first manufactured boy band had their show air from 1966-1968, and recorded songs for a further 2 years. The band most recently reunited in 2011, as part of a 45th anniversary tour.

Get the Juno Awards iPhone App
With more and more Canadian acts making it big on the world stage the past decade or so, the Junos have been a cool little Canadian music awards show. The Junos actually get worldwide press now, mainly because us Canadians are knicking Grammys, too. The Junos are on April 1 this year (insert lame April Fools Day joke), and you can learn about the bands, buy their music, or test yourself with the Great Canadian Music Challenge feature, all on the Juno Awards app (via iPhone in Canada). You can also watch videos from Juno Award events and concerts, which is kinda cool.
Not Weird Looking at All: Charge Your Phone By Breathing Into this Mask
Sometimes when I’m somewhere without a power outlet, and my iPhone 4S and it’s effing terrible battery life are on their last legs, I wish I had some kind of portable charger. I often imagine some sleek, compact design, so that I can carry it with me. But why carry it when I can wear it – introducing the AIRE mask by Joao Lammoglia (via Geekologie). In what doubles as a great Halloween costume if you want to be Bane, Sub-Zero, or Hannibal Lector, this charging device is a mask that you wear and it charges your phone by your breathing. Hooray for tiny wind turbines! Maybe they can invent one that can do something with all of my farts? And can I comment on how natural looking and totally hip the chick looks while wearing the mask and jogging? Pretty sure you don’t need your phone charged that badly, do you honey?
Watch! Joy Orbison’s Remix of Lana Del Rey’s Video Games
Lana Del Rey’s Video Games has been remixed by Roy Joy Orbinson. You can watch a video of the remix, which is sorta like the original, down below. Wait, maybe this isn’t a remix at all p maybe I was singing along loudly while playing the original and somehow dreamed up this article?
