CMW Critical Conclusions for… Harrison (Canadian Music Week 2015 concert review)
Hotly tipped Toronto producer Harrison played at midnight, and PHM were there to catch his Canadian Music Week show. Thoughts and words below.
Venue: Studio Bar
First Impression: It took a couple of songs, but the dance floor was bopping, as Harrison promised.
Stage Presence: There’s only so much you can do as a DJ, but he moved around to his beats, samples and remixes, and appeared to having a good time. There were cool anime clips on a video screen behind him, too.
Crowd Reaction: As I alluded to before, it took a bit but DANCE PARTY.
Random Observation: Only one, sad, solemn balloon in the crowd. Who brings one balloon?
Last Word: 8.5/10. Despite a few minor technical difficulties (for which Harrison apologized for after the set when I chatted with him – how Canadian) it was a really solid set. The set grew stronger as it moved along (surely no relation to it being the drunker I got….). Harrison brought out singer Maddee for a couple of the tracks they do together, which was a nice touch. A nice bunch of remixes highlighted the set, which went by in the blink of an eye. Catch him while you can.
