Morning Music Notes – Too Kool for School
In the height of my illness, English band Elbow dropped a video for a lovely new song called My Sad Captains. As I slowly clear out my bookmarks and return to solid foods, you might even get a post about this Get Lucky song that is making waves.
Guy Garvey’s fragile vocal delivery puts the ‘sad’ in My Sad Captains. The track is off of The Take Off and Landing of Everything, which you can grab right now. Check out the video below.

As you may have seen on our Twitter feed yesterday, Toronto venues The Guvernment and Kool Haus are shutting down in January 2015. PHM has covered many gigs there, including Arctic Monkeys, the Sirius XM Indies, Kasabian, amongst seeing dozens of shows there in my lifetime. Fortunately, Toronto is getting just what it needs in place of the mid-sized venues – MORE CONDOS. (via The Grid)
Paul McCartney has played the highest ever concert in Ecuador. Unfortunately, we’re not talking about drugs. Okay, we are. Nah, we ain’t. He played at Estadio de Liga in Quito, Ecuador, which is at an elevation of 9,350 feet. (via Billboard)
These seems practical: a man is suing Jay Z, Kanye West, and Beyoncé for – wait for it – $2.4 BILLION DOLLARS! Surely he must have a good reason? Richard Dupree thinks that these artists, along with Chris Brown and Rihanna, been teamed with the C.I.A., F.B.I., and Department of Homeland Security to steal song lyrics he’s been writing in prison. Seems totally plausible. (via Consequence of Sound)
