Morning Music Notes – Renaming New York After the Beastie Boys One Park and Corner at a Time
We have some more new stuff from Yuck. The London indie rockers have a new album called Glow & Behold, and from it we get Lose My Breath, which is sadly not a Destiny’s Child cover.
The mellowish track has a video with kids, ducklings, and psychedelic colours and floating lips. Makes sense, right? Check it out below.

Music fans never know when to give up. Fans tried to get a park renamed after the late Adam Yauch from Beastie Boys (which was successful). Fans then tried to get a corner in Brooklyn named after rapper Notorious BIG (which was unsuccessful). The same petition group (who apparently have a lot of free time) are pushing to ask Manhattan’s Community Board 3 and New York City Council to name the intersection where Paul’s Boutique was shot after the Beasties. People placed candles at the intersection of Ludlow Street and Rivington Street when MCA died. (via Hollywood Reporter)
Who cares if you’re a BILLIONAIRE, it’s still fun to try and catch a free $5 t-shirt at an NBA Game, right? Just ask Sir Paul McCartney (who tried and failed – JUST LIKE THE BEATLES). His wife Nancy (on Paul’s left) clearly doesn’t want any more free t-shirts in their 50,000 square feet of closet space.
Someone who could use a free t-shirt? Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes (producer of some mighty fine Solange tracks) lost all of his possessions in an apartment fire. Sadly, his dog Cupid also died in the fire. Music, hard drives, EVERYTHING is all gone for the producer. His girlfriend’s mom has started a crowdfunding page here. (via Stereogum)
Just in time for the holidays – a tea set from British band Blur. A tea-related product in England? That’ll never take off! (via Guardian)
