Morning Music Notes – Not Your Usual Notes
Justice: “We make good songs bad”
Hopefully you’ve purchased or managed to check out the new Justice album, which is streaming on PHM. It’s a good one. Justice recently revealed they turned down a chance to remix Johnny Cash (via NME).
“It’s just crazy how people in the music industry are dying for us to do remixes. We were asked to do a Johnny Cash remix but it doesn’t make any sense. When the song is already good, we can only make it worse.”
“Gaspard Auge added that the band are already thinking about their third album after releasing their second studio LP, ‘Audio, Video, Disco’, earlier this week. “We already have a few ideas for the next album,” he said.
So Daft Punk, Britney Spears, and N.E.R.D. (all remixed by Justice) must be second guessing why Justice remixed their songs, based on these recent statements. Burn!
Coldplay (Soft)Rocks Madrid on YouTube
PHM tried unsuccessfully to watch Coldplay play live in Madrid via YouTube yesterday. Did my computer need to be on for me to do that?
“We decided we’d like to do a concert which we’d broadcast on YouTube live around the world and just looked for some of the most beautiful buildings we could find and this is what we came up with, in one of the most beautiful cities in the world,” singer Chris Martin said after the concert (via Telepgraph).
Coldplay plans on releasing the individual videos up to YouTube for all to watch. For now, you can check out the live versions of Charlie Brown, Viva La Vida, and Violet Hill, from the Unstaged show in Madrid yesterday.

I made a typo initially and put “Violent Hill”. That sounds more like a Chuck Norris song than a Coldplay song.
Water Cooler Topics
When people talk about reality shows at the old water cooler at work, I have no idea what they are talking about. I thought the original Survivor people were still living on the island. When people talk about certain genres of music that I don’t listen to frequently (and will soon blog about below), I catch headlines, but that’s about it. To help you not feel as lost as I do, I decided to branch out and feel you 2 headlines and videos, so you can impress all those 19 year olds young pups in the kitchen.
Justin Bieber is working with Kanye West and Drake on his next album (via Guardian).
“The LP will be called Believe, he told MTV News, and is due “very soon”. After working with Busta Rhymes and Mariah Carey on Under the Mistletoe, he said he is thrilled to have enlisted Drake and West. “[Kanye’s] such a cool guy,” Bieber raved last year. “He’s just a nice person.”
Kanye is nice? Clearly Bieber is Canadian.
The next piece of atypical PHM news is the new Beyonce video for Party. However, the song ups the cool factor by factor by featuring both Andre 3000 and Kanye West (Hey, did you hear he’s working on the new Justin Bieber album??).
Check out the video below. Beyonce as trailer trash? Unbelievable (in the ‘I don’t believe it’ sense of the word).
