Morning Music Notes – Two at a Time, I Want Lawsuits

We’ve heard the audio for the motor mouthed Eminem song Rap God. Now we get a retro, Max Headroom-esque video from the Detroit rapper. The singles keep flowing from Em’s new album, following Berzerk, Survival, and Monster.

Eminem is also strapped to a chair in the video, subject to a lighter version of the Clockwork Orange treatment – it turned out well in that movie, didn’t it? Check out Rap God Eminem below.

And speaking of Eminem, who brief disappeared from the top of the charts last week, he has returned to number 1 on the Billboard 200. He sold 120,000 copies of his album The Marshall Mathers LP 2 last week. (via Billboard)

GoldieBlox have removed the Beastie Boys track Girls that they used without permission in their recent viral commercial. The company did so with an accompanying open letter, which essentially says they think they can use their song under fair-use since they meant it as parody. Nice “apology”, guys! (via Wired)

The xx aren’t happy that one of their songs, Intro, was used in a anti-gay Croatian political commercial by organization U ime obitelji. The band issues a statement that read “We wish to state that we didn’t, and would never, approve the use of our music by this organisation. To be clear, we unconditionally support the equal right to marriage regardless of sexuality.” (via Pitchfork)

Alex Turner has a new idea for the next Arctic Monkeys album, but admits the band are in very, very early stages of any new album. I hope it’s about time travelling kittens. (via NME)
