Ottawa Folk Festival Reveals Lineup
Ottawa should just quit naming festivals after genres of music. They have the Bluesfest, which has seen bluesy acts such as Metallica, Snoop Dogg, and Skrillex play. They also have the slightly more appropriate but still misleading Folk Festival. The Ottawa Folk Festival will run September 4 through 8 and will play host to Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Colin Meloy (from the Decemberists), Kendrick Lamar (not from the Decemberists), Vampire Weekend, The Wailers, and a slew of other acts that somewhat can be counted as folk acts. Check out the full line up over at their website.
#Facebook #Gets #Hashtags #So #My #Headline #Is #Hilarious
You will soon be able to annoy your friends on Facebook with hashtags. For those who somehow have no clue how this works, it’s a way of searching a phrase that is started with the number sign on your old rotary phone. Or current and hip smart phone.
“Starting today, hashtags will be clickable on Facebook,” Faceboook said in announcement. “Similar to other services like Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, or Pinterest, hashtags on Facebook allow you to add context to a post or indicate that it is part of a larger discussion”.
You can search hashtags from the Facebook search bar and see who is talking about #PetePeeingHisPants. Hopefully no one.
Queens of the Stone Age Nab First Number 1
The new Queens of the Stone Age are …Like Clockwork. Actually, not quite, since they found themselves in an unfamiliar position – naked in my bedroom number 1 at the top of the US charts (via MTV). Their latest album, …Like Clockwork, sold 91,000 copies in week number 1. The number 1 was also a first for indie label Matador Records. Daft Punk dropped to number 2, selling 62,000, and are quickly approaching half a million units sold.
Listen! Smith Westerns – Idol
If you wanted some straight poppy rock, look no further. The band Smith Westerns have a new track from upcoming album Soft Will (which should be the nickname of Will Smith). Check out the simple yet pretty track for Idol.
