You Know Those Guitars That Are, Like, Double Guitars?

Music writers have often spoken about the power that a man feels behind a guitar, how it serves as both a phallic symbol and an almost spiritual source of release. Over time came the guitar with not one, but two necks. A little trickier to play, a little heavier, but more manly. Well, what if a guitar had TWELVE necks? Not even an octopus could play that – my pet octopi (yes, I have more than one) couldn’t handle it.

The guitar was made by Yoshihiko Satoh. And why would one make such a guitar? Satoh likes to “takes mass-produced goods and alters or multiplies them to ‘unleash the energy residing in their function and shape” (via Dvice).

In other guitar news, John Taylor recently broke the world record for playing a whopping 600 beats per minute on the guitar (via Dvice). The previous record was held by Tiago Della Veg, playing 340 BPM. Both played Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight of the Bumblebee”, which seems like a logical classic guitar song to me. Also amazingly is that John can’t make it past the first level in guitar hero! Even I could do that after 6 months of trying and then extensive tutoring.
