Listen! The Rolling Stones – Doom and Gloom
The Rolling Stones have released something from their first studio session in seven years. And it’s not total crap, either! To some, the band might be resting on their laurels. But this new song, Doom and Gloom, while not an instant classic, shows the band still have something left in the tanks. These guys are old and don’t need to do this, don’t forget!
The track has Mick Jagger sounding like vintage Mick, with the rhythm section having a Gimme Shelter-like vibe to it. Actually, the song sounds like old Stones – if you can’t be innovative, there’s nothing wrong with sounding like your back catalogue (right?). Maybe this means Dr. Dre won’t remix this track.
