Morning Music Notes – 2014’s halfway point list-a-thon
We’re now halfway through 2014 (almost) and Spin has released a pretty interesting list of overlooked albums of the year thus far; a good scouting list to fill up your playlist. INcluded on this ‘overlooked’ list: Brenmar, The Coathangers, Damien Jurado, Dean Wareheim, The Hotelier, Issue, Julie Byrne, Justin Bieber (huh?!), and one of my favourites from this year so far: Lee Bannon.

Katy Perry launched her own label (a subsidiary of Capitol), Metamorphosis Records, and signed L.A. singer Ferras. Prediction: Every song this label releases will have the word “tonight” in it. Read more about it on NME, to-niiiight!
A big heap of Lou Reed’s musical gear is going to be auctioned off on eBay. The proceeds will be used to fund The Lou Reed archive (which hopefully won’t need all that Lou Reed gear they just auctioned off).
