Morning Music Notes – Using ‘Heart’ and ‘Earth’ to Forget Catchy Songs
Eminem Readies New Album
Eminem, who told the world using the ‘baseball hat’ method of release dates, is close to finishing his album, according to Dr. Dre (via NME). The yet untitled album will be Eminem’s 8th album, and will have plenty of lyrics about new ways to murder and dismember ex-wife Kim.
Talking about doing studio work for himself, Dr. Dre said “As you know, it’s been almost 30 years for me in music. It’s a little bit difficult to keep getting inspired to get back in there but you know, music is my first love and I’m going to continue to do that as long as I can.”
Do Puzzles to Get Songs Out of Your Head
The good news: scientists have discovered a new way to get those annoying songs out of your head.
The bad news: it involves you being a gigantic nerd.
Scientists at Western Washington University have discovered that doing puzzles will help get those annoying Katy Perry bubble gum pop songs out of your head (via Crave). You can do sudoku, but the most effective were five-letter anagrams. Is that my elbow or my bowel? BAM – bye bye Bieber! It turns out not knowing the difference between the two (and solving the anagram) engages the brain just enough based on their awesomely named study, “Going Gaga: Investigating, Creating and Manipulating the Song Stuck in My Head.”
Smashing Pumpkins Start Recording New Album
As per singer Billy Corgan’s tweet, The Smashing Pumpkins have begun recording their latest album, with Billy remaining the only original member. Another else think it’s cool that his Twitter handle is simply @Billy? Early adopter.

Watch! A$AP Rocky and Skrillex – Wild for the Night
Move over rap rock – I’m looking at you, Limp Bizkit and Lil’ Wayne – we have a new combo genre: dub step rap. A$AP Rocky combined with Skrillex in a new track called Wild for the Night. The party went down to the Dominican Republic, hopping from slum to club, as one does. The track is lifted from LongLiveASAP and you catch listen to the fusion of genres below.
