Morning Music Notes – Return of the King
A big thanks to Rich for keeping you sexy readers engaged in music news in the mornings. Time for me to put some pants on and give you some other tidbits that I let slip through the crack while I was running around during CMW. Apologies if any of this news is ‘too old’ for you – that never stopped me with your mom. Oh, I went there.
Noel Gallagher and Damon Albarn Perform Together, Earth Crashes into the Sun
The excellent annual charity benefit series, Teenage Cancer Trust, was curated by Noel Gallagher this year. Last year, PHM caught Florence + the Machine and their stunning show.
Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and Blur’s Damon Albarn – bitter Britpop rivals – took the stage together this weekend to play together! They played a Blur song – I wonder how that came about? Joining Albarn and Gallagher were Paul Weller and Graham Coxon. Check out video of Tender by Blurasis below, before the next sign of the apocalypse shows up. Oh, and what does brother Liam think about everything? Apparently he thinks his Britpop rivals were called Blue…
Don’t know what’s worse RKID sipping champagne with a war criminal or them backing vocals you’ve just done for BLUE ! LG x

Daft Punk Reveal Another 15 Second Snippet, Media Runs Out of Adjectives to Describe Excitement
Daft Punk continue to give us snippets of their recently announced new album, Random Access Memories. The album is out May 21, but if we watch enough Saturday Night Live episodes, we can piece together the album 15 seconds at a time. We previously heard a disco-esque 15 second clip (which even spawned a 9 minute Ron Swanson dance video).
Now we have another disco-funk clip from this past Saturday’s SNL episode. Give it a listen below and prepare to lose your shit like everyone else seems to be doing.

Queens of the Stone Age Name New Album Like Clockwork
This new Queens of the Stone Age album could be interesting. It features Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, Elton John, and Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters. Not sure how they will all contribute, but it’ll be fun to hear the tracks. The sixth QOTSA album now has a name – Like Clockwork. It will be out in June.
Skrillex Cancels Canadian Full Flex Express Train Tour
Sad news, lovers of Skrillex and trains – he has cancelled his Full Flex Express train tour (via Rolling Stone). On the tour’s website, Skrillex wrote “During the past four months we lost the train we had booked, found a new one, and then realized the cost associated with using it would put us at a huge, huge loss.” Fans will have to choo-choo-choose another tour to attend, since this one was derailed. Yup, two lame jokes, one lame sentence – I’m well trained. Okay, I’ll stop.
Watch! Noel and The Whale – There Will Come A Time
Noah and The Whale are dropping a new album in May called Heart of Nowhere, which sounds deeper than it actually is. They have a new poppy rock video for our first listen of the new album. The track is There Will Come A Time, and it’s a short film that doubles as an album trailer. Budgets are tight these days.
