Trent Reznor Named Chief Creative Officer of Daisy, Which is Not a Dog OR a Flower
Remember when we told you about Trent Reznor teaming up with Dr. Dre / Beats by Dre for a new music streaming service called Daisy? You might have been drunk at the time (I know I was), so you’re forgiven. Beats by Dre. CEO, Jimmy Iovine hopes that Reznor will “bring an emotional connection back to the act of music discovery.”
Reznor might be able to do that with his shiny new job title – chief creative officer of Daisy (via Rolling Stone). Former Topspin employee, Ian Rogers, is now the CEO of Daisy. The service will launch later this year, and hopefully will not become another generic music streaming service in an increasingly crowded market.
The Brit Awards Have Been Announced
The Brit Awards have been announced for 2013. The 2012 version might be best remembered for host James Corden cutting off Adele’s acceptance speech so that Blur could play, and having Adele give the middle finger in return. Emile Sande leads the pack with 4 nominations, while Alt-J and Mumford & Sons have three each.
One of the stranger and unexpected nominations comes in the form of Amy Winehouse. She has been nominated in the Best female solo category, and is up against Emile Sande, Jessie Ware, Paloma Faith and Bat for Lashes. Winehouse’s posthumous album was released back in December 2011.
The Rolling Stones also got a nomination, for Best Live act, despite only playing a small handful of shows. Maybe it’s a combined age + live shows kind of vote? And no Radiohead nomination? Garbage!
Head over to the Brits website for the full list of nominees.

Listen! Grimes – Skin (Four Tet Remix)
Two unfortunately things about this track. The first is that it’s not an official remix – Four Tet was just fucking about with a track, using a vocal loop from the Grimes track, Skin (via Stereogum). The second is that some guy ruins the last minute of the song by talking. However, the first three and a half minutes of the song features Grimes’ ethereal vocals being looped through Four Tet’s wicked beat, so check it out below.
