Radiohead’s Codex Ruined By Will Smith’s Daughter, Willow
On those “singing” reality shows, pop acts try covering Radiohead to win over the skeptics and to seem progressive. The latest act trying to do this is Will Smith’s daughter, Willow Smith, probably best known for being Will Smith’s daughter singing Whip My Hair (which has 85 million YouTube views?! What the fuck).
Willow Smith has taken the standout track from 2011’s The King of Limbs – that’s Codex for those who don’t know – and used this haunting piano beat and Thom Yorke’s backing vocals to craft a song called Sugar and Spice. She’s gone from Whip My Hair to lyrics such as “I tried to be sugar and spice, but I’m melancholy and can’t do anything right / The monsters under my bed keep making noise at night, I just want silence.” Yes, you’re 12, you’re trying to grow up, but please leave Radiohead alone.
Check it out (if you forever want Codex ruined), and while you’re at it, check out the promising flow from brother Jaden.
