Proof That Listening to Alanis Morissette is Dangerous
Alanis Morissette was wildly popular in the 90s, then sort of disappeared, only to re-emerge with hunky boyfriend (her words, not mine, even though I’m typing this) Ryan Reynolds and a great guest spot on the show Weeds. Ryan Reynolds has been traded for rapper Souleye, and Alanis even writes songs for him. Souleye is now her husband and opening act as she promotes her new album, Havoc and Bright Lights.
However, it’s her older music that is proving dangerous for some people. Not dangerous in the sense that people are popping ‘jagged little pills’, but dangerous in the domestic violence sense. In Jacksonville, Florida, 33 year old Todd Fletcher would not listen to anything but Alanis Morissette. That in itself sounds like a crime. His 24 year old girlfriend, Allen Casey, rightfully went crazy and allegedly hit Fletcher in the face with a plate (via Gawker). So I guess I shouldn’t subject my cats to my all-Radiohead, all the time mantra, or they might rise up.
