The Mixtape of the 2000s: A Cassette-Shaped Mp3 Player
Are you old enough to remember making mixtapes with cassette tapes? You could put CDs in your stereo or wait for the song on the radio to play (yup, it was as archaic as it sounds) and then hit record on the cassette tape on the stereo, and make your very own playlist – not cumbersome at all! Sometimes, romantic fellas (read: not me) would pick out songs about the object of their affection, and gave them this mixtape, hoping that they would clue in that they have a little crush on them. This has somewhat disappeared in the digital age, but MakerBot are trying to bring it back (via Gizmodo).
The MakerBoy Mixtape is a small, 2GB MP3 player. For $25, you get the MP3 player, as well as the snap-on cassette tape case. If you aren’t good at snapping things together, you clearly had no toys as a kid can pay $39 for the “fully assembled” version. Now, $25 might be an expense mixtape to give a chick, but burning cds is SOOO 2002, so suck it up and be cool. See how it works below, and think of me when you’re making out with your future girlfriend. Actually, don’t – that’s just creepy.
